Rain puts temporary halt to racing in Reading

READING, Pa. – A steady afternoon rain has postponed the 28th annual Uni-Select Auto Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway on Sunday.
Racing will resume at 11 a.m. Eastern on Monday morning.

Eliminations were halted in the middle of the second round of Top Fuel, but not before Antron Brown made the fastest pass in NHRA history with a run of 3.722 seconds at 325.69 mph. Brown has a backup within one percent of that pass and would set the national record – which comes with an additional 20 points – if he leaves Maple Grove with the record.

Khalid alBalooshi, Brandon Bernstein and Brown all won their second-round races in Top Fuel before it started to rain again.
Funny Car and Pro Stock made it through the first round before rain began to fall just before Pro Stock Motorcycle was set to run. The bikes were then pushed behind the nitro classes and have yet to run the first round.

First-round winners were Jack Beckman, Ron Capps, Johnny Gray, Matt Hagan, Todd Lesenko, John Force, Mike Neff and Jim Head in Funny Car; and Jason Line, Ronnie Humphrey, V. Gaines, Greg Anderson, Erica Enders, Jeg Coughlin, Dave Connolly and Allen Johnson in Pro Stock.
