Haney, Guest to attack ADRL series

Keith Haney Racing and John Woods Performance Auto of Oklahoma City are looking to conquer new territory in 2012.

Haney, a past champion in the NHRA Top Sportsman category, has formed a two-car doorslammer operation with Woods that will run the entire 10-race ADRL season, which kicks off March 30 at Royal Purple Raceway outside Houston.

The first car will be a Pro Nitrous entry owned and driven by Haney, with the second a Pro Mod car, owned by Woods and driven by Monroe Guest.

"We've put together a great team and have the support of many dedicated people and sponsors," Haney said. "I'm excited to have my best friend as a teammate and we're both fortunate to do what we love to do."

Guest, a multiple-time winner in the NHRA's Top Alcohol Dragster class, said he can't wait to shoot it out in a new series.

"We're glad to go ADRL racing," Guest said. "It's a great series and they always put on incredible events. I'm happy to be on the same team as Keith and John and being a part of the ADRL makes it that much better.

"I'm excited to be back in the saddle. Hopefully we can go out, win some races, have some fun and give the fans and our sponsors a great show too."

Both drivers will be piloting already-completed 2012 Camaros built by Wally Stroupe Race Cars. The team will be managed by longtime Haney ally, John Collins.

"My goal this first year will be to get each car a win in either series," said Collins, a former Top Fuel driver. "We have key people in place to make that happen. I've been with Keith for eight years now and the guy just keeps getting better and better every pass. Keith is a great driver with lots of potential and Monroe's record speaks for itself. I'm looking forward to working with both men this year."

Terry Murphy and Justin Shearer, two of the most respected crew chiefs in Pro Mod racing, will tune Haney's and Guest's 2012 Camaro.

Woods company, Performance Auto (www.iperfomanceauto.com), will be displayed on both cars alongside Keith Haney Racing signage.

"We think we have the parts and people it takes to make a splash in the ADRL right away," Haney said. "The new season can't get started soon enough for us."
