Sidelined rider Llewellyn shows her 'Ocean Style'

Rob Geiger, Managing Editor

Pro Stock Motorcycle racer and fan favorite Peggy Llewellyn, known for stepping outside the traditional drag racer role, is featured in the March edition of Ocean Style magazine (www.oceanstylemagazine.com).

Ocean Style, known for its portrayal of Caribbean style, fun, beauty, and fashion, showcases Llewellyn in an article called "A Need for Speed." Her Jamaican heritage and flair for fashion made her a natural for the magazine.

"I love the opportunity to meet new people and do new things," said Llewellyn, who in the past few months has been spotted at the NASCAR Awards Banquet in NYC, the Women's Sports Foundation Billie Awards in Beverly Hills, the Heal the Bay Benefit in Hollywood, and the Urban Wheel Awards in Detroit. "My dad’s from Jamaica and my mom from Mexico, so I felt comfortable when asked to appear in the magazine. I also saw an opportunity to expose their readership to professional drag racing."

Llewellyn will start the 2009 Full Throttle Drag Racing Series on the sidelines but continues to work towards an eventual return to the seat.

"I’m very actively perusing sponsorship opportunities in perhaps the worst economic conditions any of us have experienced," she said. "I have every expectation to be on a bike again before the season ends. I’ll be a spectator at Gainesville, so be sure to stop me and say hello."
