Force launches Oakley Elite line with Pit Boss

Oakley founder Jim Jannard, a drag racing enthusiast to his core, conceptualized the perfect pair of sunglasses seven years ago. Now a reality, the rare Pit Boss design is worn by an elite group of individuals worldwide, including 14-time world champion John Force.
A superstar throughout the motorsports world, Force was chosen to represent Oakley's Elite collection and, as such, will be the first driver to wear the Pit Boss on tour.
Since the inception of the Pit Boss, the people at Oakley knew the design would be a showcase for the very best that science could offer. For Jannard, it started as pursuit of art and style, but it quickly became a quest of perfection.
Jannard enlisted many of the most talented designers in the industry to attain his vision and the technology in each pair of sunglasses is just as aggressive as the styling.
The frame itself is made of stress-resistant O Matter material with ultra-lightweight titanium plates forged at searing temperatures and chiseled by a CNC machine to precise measurements. For high-velocity impact protection, Oakley has used hexalobular bolts to secure the plates together.
Every frame comes with premium Oakley HD Polarized lenses that filter out 99 percent of glare without the visual haze and optical distortion that comes with ordinary polarized lenses. The back of each lens has the added protection and glare reduction of anti-reflective coating, and the front is augmented with iridium coating to further reduce glare and precisely balance light transmission.
Oakley also added Hydrophobic/Oleophobic technology, a permanent coating that repels dust while maintaining a smudge-resistant barrier against skin oils, fingerprints, lotions and sunscreens. It even repels water to prevent streaks and sheens from corrupting the wearer's point of view.
The lenses feature a wraparound 8.75 base curvature, a contour that extends peripheral view and improves side protection against sun, wind and impact. Even with that much curvature, the wearer will maintain clarity at every angle of view because the lenses are engineered with XYZ Optics, one of the patented innovations of High Definition Optics that combines patented optics and Plutonite lens material. The pure Plutonite lenses filter out 100 percent of all UVA, UVB, UVC and harmful blue light.

Offered in three unique lens/frame color combinations -- Matte Rootbeer and Bronze with Tungsten Iridium Polarized lenses, Polished Black and Gunmetal with VR28 Black Iridium Polarized lenses, and Matte Black and Titanium frame with Black Iridium Polarized lenses.
