Kalitta Motorsports restructures for 2009


Kalitta Motorsports will compete in the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series with one full-time entry, the DHL Toyota Solara Funny Car driven by Jeff Arend. Also in 2009, Kalitta Motorsports will celebrate 50 years of drag racing by Connie "the Bounty Hunter" Kalitta as he commemorates the golden landmark as a driver, tuner, and owner.

'09 Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series schedule announced

The NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series will feature eight points-earning events and four non-points affiliate events on an expanded 2009 schedule. The series also will crown year-end points champions in 14 categories. The 14 champions will receive a gold Wally trophy, Champion’s jacket and hat, and a cash award.

NHRA downs NASCAR at Bobsled Challenge

 
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Top Fuel driver Morgan Lucas won the NHRA vs. NASCAR portion of the fourth annual Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge Sunday with the best time of the weekend down Mount Van Hoevenberg -- a stunning 47.78-second run in one of Team USA's competition Bo-Dyn bobsleds. Final-round foe Todd Bodine flipped over near the end of his final run to give Lucas the win.

Densham makes history in Australia

 
IPSWICH, Australia -- Veteran NHRA star Gary Densham etched his name into the history books by recording the first four-second Funny Car pass outside North America when he clocked a 4.866-second pass Friday night at Willowbank Raceway, near Brisbane, Queensland.

Lucas leads Team NHRA in Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Top Fuel driver Morgan Lucas looked exceptionally racy on the U.S. Olympic Bobsled course on Mount Van Hoevenberg Saturday, sledding to the No. 3 qualifying position at the fourth annual Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge charity race to lead the four-man group representing NHRA Championship Drag Racing.
